Injuries were the word for the day as six key players were out with injuries for at least part of the game. Allen Iverson missed a shot at the buzzer that would have forced a second overtime as the Los Angeles Clippers won 114-112. Already without Gary Grant, Randy Smith came out of the game with an ankle injury in the overtime, as the Clippers won behind balanced scoring, led by Elton Brand's 28. The 76ers, already without Charles Barkley and Hal Greer due to injury, lost Billy Cunningham and, for a while Julius Erving in the second half, as the Sixers struggled to maintain their early lead. Erving returned to the game and led Philadelphia with 29.
