Julius Erving hit on a three-point play to put the Philadelphia 76ers ahead to stay as the Sixers won an exciting 114-113 decision over the Detroit Pistons in a game that may very well have playoff implications. Detroit emerged from their dreadful third quarter to make a 10-0 run to start the fourth quarter to take the lead. Maurice Cheeks had a monster game for Philly, scoring 29 points and dishing out 13 dimes, while Bob Lanier sparked the Pistons' fourth quarter comeback, finishing with 26 points and 16 rebounds.
