Boston overcame Larry Bird's injury to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers in an important early-season contest 113-105. The Celtics improved to 4-0, with John Havlicek and Kevin McHale contributing a combined 53 points off the bench for Boston. Allen Iverson led six Philadelphia players in double figures with 30, as Philadelphia loses their first game of the season.
