The Denver Nuggets become the last team to win their first game, defeating the Golden State Warriors 143-121. David Thompson led the Nuggets with 31 points and Alex English 28 in this offensive explosion between two gifted offensive lineups and two limited defensive units, especially with Warrior center Nate Thurmond going down with a sprained ankle early in the contest. Rick Barry led Golden State with 39.
