Charles Barkley, Hal Greer, and Bill Russell each returned from injuries to play in this key Northeast Division match-up won by the Boston Celtics 116-99 over the Philadelphia 76ers. John Havlicek led six Celtics in double figures with a stellar 24-point, 7-rebound, 5-assist performance, as the Celtics went on a 12-0 run in the first quarter and were never really challenged afterward. Maurice Cheeks had a brilliant 23-point, 10-assist performance for Philly, who lost their second straight, effectively knocking them out of contention for the division championship.
