Houston closed the first quarter on 34-4 run and never looked back as the Rockets improved to 8-1 with a 113-92 win over the Washington Wizards. Hakeem Olajuwon led eight Rockets in double figures, as Houston stretched out to a 3-1/2 game lead in the Southwest Division. Washington lost their eighth straight game with Elvin Hayes leading them in scoring 17.
