Rudy Tomjanovich led the Rockets with 23 points, while Hakeem Oklajuwon scored 19 points, grabbed 24 rebounds, and played his usual sterling defense as the Rockets gained a huge victory against the previously undefeated Atlanta Hawks 110-91. The Rockets led by 21 after the first period and kept a safe lead throughout. Dominique Wilkins led the Hawks with 24 points before injuring his ankle late in the third period. Bob Pettit scored 17 points and led Atlanta with 16 rebounds in this battle between the top two rebounding teams in the League.
